Why CourtClarity Exists
The Kindling Light CourtClarity Education Hub was created to address a common gap: people are often expected to navigate domestic violence and court systems—such as family court, magistrate court, and circuit court—without clear, accessible information about how those systems actually work.
Through years of clinical and community-based work, it became clear that confusion about court processes, roles, and expectations can increase stress, risk, and harm. The CourtClarity Education Hub exists to provide plain-language education that helps people understand these systems, set realistic expectations, and identify where challenges and gaps commonly arise.
Educational content within the Hub is developed and reviewed by Kindling Light and its board, with additional collaboration and general review from West Virginia–licensed attorneys to support accuracy around court structure and process. This collaboration is limited to public legal education and does not include legal advice or representation.
The Education Hub is designed to support understanding, transparency, and systems accountability—while remaining educational, non-directive, and accessible to the public.
